Hold a Bachelor of Agricultural Management from the University of the Free State, a Hons (Agricultural

Economics) from the University of Pretoria, Master in Human Ecology (Food Security & Rural Development) from

the University of South Africa and a PhD (Environmental & Agricultural) from the University of South Africa and

have more than 15 years Teaching, Research and Project Management experience and achieved the following:

acted as a reviewer for various journals including African Journal of Business and Economic Research and

Journal of Asian and Africa Studies, Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development, Agroforestry Systems,

Cogent Food and Agriculture, Sustainability Journal, Climate Services Journal and served in various journal’s

editorial boards including Journal of Agricultural Science and Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics

and Sociology. Have a good student’s supervision record, having supervised 1 Honors, 10 Masters Students and

1 Doctoral student to completion at the Universities of South Africa, Johannesburg, North West, Free State and

Tshwane University of Technology. I have also served as an external examiner for Masters and PhD students at

the Universities of Witwatersrand, Limpopo, Venda and South Africa. I am currently supervising 5 PhD students

and 1 Master student in the field of Agroforestry, Rural Development, Smallholder Farmer, Extension and Food

Security at the University of Pretoria, North West University, University of the Free State and University of

Kwazulu Natal. I have Published more than 30 articles in different international peer reviewed journals; + 30 peer

reviewed conference proceedings (Local & International), 2 books and +10 book chapters. I worked at the

University of South Africa; Development Bank of Southern Africa; University of Johannesburg and did Post-

Doctoral Fellowship at University of Johannesburg and was also appointed by the University of Johannesburg as

a Senior Research Associate for two years. I am currently employed at the Agricultural Research Council as a

Senior Researcher: Smallholder Farmer and Enterprise Development. Some of my career highlights includes

being awarded Y Rating (Agricultural Rural Development & Environmental Management) by the National

Research Foundation, registered as a Professional Scientist (Agricultural Sciences) by SACNASP, winner of

2016 GDARD 9th Annual Research Symposium Best Poster Presentation, winner of 2016 Agricultural Research

Council Young Researcher Excellence Category, winner of 2017 ARC VOP Crop Science Division Excellence in

Smallholder Farmer Support Category, winner of 2017 ARC VOP Crop Science Division Most Publication

Category, awarded two international best papers during 3rd World Irrigation Forum and International Commission

on Irrigation and Drainage held in Indonesia, Bali, 2 best papers to journal during 2020 & 21 during Forestry and

Agroforestry session, International Agriculture Symposium in Bosnia and Sarajevo (University of East Sarajevo

and Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM), Best International Paper under 2022 International

Commission on Irrigation and Drainage Conference sub-themes of the Question “Addressing the Sustainable

Development Goals of Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) and currently appointed as an

agroforestry expert by RE- NATURE (Amsterdam); Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) Project

facilitated the signing of the following memorandum of understanding for the Agricultural Research Council

(ARC): South African Forestry Company Limited (SAFCOL); South African National Parks (SANPARKS) and

South African Sugar Association (SASA), directly involved in the development of the South African Agroforestry

masterplan and served as a steering committee member for the United Nations Development Programme

(UNDP) small grants.
